New policy for Call of Duty 4 coverage

Due to recent events we have decided to add a new policy to the way we operate on Call of Duty 4 requests. Before we get to the changes we’d like to give you some insight as to what made this happen.

The cause.
Last month we have been covering the Esports Heaven, commonly referred to as ESH, Full Tilt Poker Challenge. Though this cup looked like any other, it seems to have changed the attitude towards us of enough parties to hamper our work to an unacceptable degree.

First off we must confess that we had not read the ESH FTPC rules which state the following:

Matches are allowed to be streamed with the agreement of both teams. If both teams agree then the cup admin must be informed.

In order words, either team can decline streaming coverage like ours, period. The reason we did not read the rules is very simple: 99% of all teams love to get streamed. Streaming coverage gives your team exposure which is needed to grow your brand, it allows you to show off the skills you’ve worked so hard on and it builds a fan base.

So, thanks to the existence of this rule the following happened in this cup alone:
Dutch flagRG-Esports, through Dutch flagpietje, denied streaming of a lower bracket match.
Czech flagPower Gaming, through Dutch flagtoxjee, denied streaming of a lower bracket match.
British flaginsert_org, through Finish flagcHoObiE, denied streaming of the upper bracket semi final and upper bracket final.
French flagTeam MondialServers, through French flagk3nZo and Belgian flagDRANRRR, denied streaming of the grand final.

The hours and effort we put into streaming, preparing, developing and running this volunteer-based organization are not worth it if after all the work through a tournament’s groups and brackets we find out we are denied the coverage of the most anticipated matches.

The reasons these teams gave us vary greatly, but in our opinion none of them is worth not accepting the valuable service we offer. We brought up this problem with ESH lead CoD4 admin, and someone we’ve worked with for many months, British flagtomzki to see if this rule could be changed, but unfortunately we could not convince him.

In closing we’d like to say that we wish all the people and teams mentioned here the best and we hope they will reconsider their point of view on this matter. To resolve this ourselves we have decided to adopt the following policy.

The policy.
1. Core policy.
With every request for coverage of an entire Call of Duty 4 cup, H2kTV must be guaranteed by the cup’s owner to be allowed to stream all matches of choice, regardless of any team’s opinion.

1.1. Addendum. (Additions to prevent circumvention of the core policy.)
Matches chosen by H2kTV for broadcasting in advance to their start, shall not happen without broadcasting by H2kTV, unless H2kTV is asked and agrees to not broadcast the match.
If a team refuses to have their match(es) broadcast in the cup they will be disqualified, or not allowed to participate, because this conflicts with the cup owner’s obligations to H2kTV.
