This week we have released the recordings from the Antwerp Esports Festival 2010, last years monumental Call of Duty 4 and Enemy Territory LAN event. Since this is probably the most delayed VOD release you have ever seen it requires some back-story.
The Antwerp Esports Festival was a great event for the viewers. We broadcasted a record breaking 26 full matches over 3 days, reached over 4000 live viewers and had over 55.000 visits to our website from 86 countries.
It was only until after the event that we received bad news. Organizer Gamevibes was not happy with the sponsored material the management of H2k Gaming / H2k Media Group had brought into our studio area and decided they would only pay half of the price that was agreed upon. Needless to say we insisted the H2k Media Group resolve this conflict at any cost, but that didn’t happen. Though we at H2kTV work completely separated from the H2k Media Group, their name is on the contract and thus we have no foothold to take legal action ourselves.
Looking back, AEF 2010 was a great event, but an event that cost us hundreds of Euro’s instead of actually bringing in some. At the time events were our only source of income so we decided to take the VOD offline because this was our only leverage. Now, 10 months later and with no progress, we give up the wait and publish them, losing any leverage we had.
